Subclass 482 - Skills in Demand Visa

This temporary visa allows employers to sponsor skilled workers to fill positions where suitably qualified Australian workers cannot be found.

Basic Eligibility

To be eligible, you must:

  • Be nominated for a skilled position by an approved sponsor.
  • Possess the appropriate skills for the job.
  • Meet the required English language proficiency.

Transition to the Skills in Demand (SID) Visa On December 7, 2024, the Skills in Demand (SID) visa replaced the Temporary Skills Shortage (TSS) visa.

  • TSS nominations and visa applications submitted before the SID visa was implemented will be processed under the rules applicable at the time of submission.
  • If your employer has lodged a TSS nomination but you have not yet submitted the associated TSS visa application before December 7, 2024, an approved TSS nomination will automatically be considered a SID nomination. You may then proceed to apply for a SID visa.
  • If you already hold a TSS visa, please refer to the section on repealed visas for further information.
